1/2 credit class? What class was it? The class makes all the difference...if it was a ';fluff'; course (p.e. or some kind of elective) then it'll look like you were lazy.
It depends on the course you failed. If you failed a college course that is mandatory for your degree and career, it could be a major deal if someone researches your transcript or you plan to transfer schools. It mainly will effect your grade point average, and lower it by a half point give or take, depending on how many credit hours the course.
